Hammersmith, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, is situated in the
middle of Shepherds Bush, Chiswick, Fulham and Kensington in West London. One of
west London's key transport hubs and commercial and employment centres, Hammersmith
is ideally located for both business and leisure travellers due to the easy access
to central London, Heathrow and the M4 motorway.
Hammersmith is home to a number of popular attractions, perhaps most famously The
Hammersmith Apollo concert hall and theatre (approx. 10 minutes walk) where many
stand-up comedy events, plays and productions take place. Riverside Studios - a
cinema, performance space, bar and cafe (formerly BBC studios used for TV productions),
The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre (approx. 10 minutes walk) and the famous Dove Pub
(the oldest surviving riverside pub in London with its entrance in the alley the
only surviving trace of the old Hammersmith Village), are all popular evening attractions
in Hammersmith.

are only 25 minutes away by the London Underground. Or for those who want something
a little more active, Hammersmith is home to 2 gyms: Fitness First and Virgin.
Shopping in Hammersmith
Hammersmith is a great shopping destination with all kinds of shops on the high
street, as well as several shopping centres such as The Broadway Centre - home to
shops including Accessorize, Benneton, Boots, Claire's Accessories, Crepeaffaire,
Pret a Manger, Tesco and WH Smith, and the King's Mall where you'll also find a
lively concentration of shops along King Street including TK Maxx, Primark, M &
S and Argos as well as independent retailers with a fashion and travel focus.
And of course there is Westfield, Europe's largest inner city shopping centre with
over 250 top brands, located less than 15 minutes walk from Lamington Apartments.
There are also lots of other great shops along Shepherds Bush Road to the North,
Fulham Palace Road to the South, and Hammersmith Road to the East. Hammersmith Farmers'
Market takes place on Thursday's in Lyric Square and provides great fresh produce
from burgers for lunch to organic vegetables and fresh cakes.
Hammersmith Transport Links
Hammersmith has some of the best transport connections in London. There are 4 Underground
lines: the District, Circle, Hammersmith and City and Piccadilly lines, giving easy
access into and out from Central London, as well as numerous bus routes from the
local bus hub.
Hammersmith is at the end of the M4 motorway, easily connected to all parts of the
UK by the M25 Motorway and only a 20 minute drive to Heathrow Airport, or if your
prefer to walk, there are a variety of fashionable pubs, bars and live music venues,
a number of international businesses and the River Thames, all within easy walking
distance around Hammersmith.
Hammersmith Tourist Attractions
Hammersmith Apollo
The Hammersmith Apollo is a major music, entertainment and concert venue in London,
built in 1932. This beautiful art deco interior has seen many great artists perform
from Queen, David Bowie and Bob Marley, to famous stand-up comedy events.
Lyric Square
An art and culture production centre, located in Hammersmith's Lyric Square (an
open public space in the heart of bustling Hammersmith). This is the perfect place
to Sit in one of the surrounding cafes and enjoy the fountain, farmers' market or
just people watch. The Lyric Hammersmith has an exciting theatre programme from
experimental to classical and musical, with major children's productions.
William Morris Society Museum
William Morris is a renowned Victorian interior designer who lived in Kelmscott
House for his last 18 years. Now it houses a small but free museum with original
Arts & Crafts designs, textiles and printing press.
Riverside Studios
The Riverside Studios is a unique world renowned arts and media centre in an old
water pump factory turned BBC recording studios on the bank of the River Thames.
An exciting venue featuring experimental theatre and international films with a
good bar and lively restaurant, it is respected for its vibrant arts and culture
events.
Kurdish Museum
The first museum of Kurdish heritage in the world, its collection consists of more
than 500 items of Kurdish handiwork. Open daily 10.00am to 6.00pm.
